The Wishbone Chair returns this year in a new, exclusive version in mahogany. This is a reinterpretation of Carl Hansen & Søn's iconic Danish chair, dressed in fine mahogany wood.
First designed in 1949 by Hans J. Wegner for Carl Hansen & Søn, the chair has been in production ever since. Named Wishbone after the Y-shaped backrest, it is reminiscent of the shape of the wishbone.
Carl Hansen & Søn CH24 Wishbone chair in mahogany
Carl Hansen's family tree of iconic designs is growing again. This year the range welcomes mahogany, a rich, reddish-brown tropical hardwood known for its grain characteristics and deep, even colour.
The Wishbone CH24 chair and the CH337 and CH338 tables are now available in FSC™ certified mahogany. Exclusive and noble, mahogany is treated with a water-based oil that accentuates its grain and gives it a satin finish.
Thus protected, mahogany chairs and tables are revealed in a natural, reddish brown oiled finish.
The Wishbone CH24 chair is a perfect example of high quality craftsmanship. Its simple design and clear lines do not suggest that 100 handmade operations are required for its manufacture. The hand-woven seat alone consists of 120 m of paper rope, processed by Carl Hansen & Søn to uncompromising quality.
